Reservation & Installation

Why should I make a reservation?

You’re reserving early access to one of our limited Founders Edition systems. By reserving now, you're locking in exclusive Founders Edition pricing — no surprises later.

It’s $100 to reserve your spot. That deposit is fully refundable and gets applied to your final purchase price. Read our full Reservation Terms & Conditions.

When will my system ship?

We plan to begin shipping systems in early 2026. You’ll receive multiple email communications leading up to that date to confirm your order, and give you time to prepare.

Is there any obligation to buy?

Nope. You’re not locked into anything until your system ships. Cancel anytime before then for a full refund.

How much will installation cost?

We designed our system from the beginning to be an electrician's best friend. Thanks to our modular setup, we expect our installation costs to be the most competitive on the market. We expect a reliable and licensed electrician should be able to install the system for $2,000 to $5,000 depending on your location and configuration.

Can I install it myself?

We recommend using a licensed electrician. Our systems are plug-and-play ready, but proper installation is key to performance, safety, and keeping your warranty valid. More details on the installation process will be coming soon.

Where can the system be installed?

All components are outdoor-rated and built to handle heat, rain, snow, and salt air. Whether you mount them outside or in your garage, they’re ready for anything.

What are the Terms & Conditions of my reservation?

Smart Panel

What makes the Kora Smart Panel different from a traditional electrical panel?

The Kora Smart Panel lets you control and automate your home’s circuits from anywhere. Turn things off from your phone. Prioritize what stays on during an outage. Even sell extra battery or solar energy when market prices are high — all through the Kora app.

Will Smart Panel lower my electric bill?

By automating usage and shifting loads to off-peak hours, Smart Panel helps you use energy smarter — especially when paired with solar or Powerblocks storage.

Can I control Smart Panel from my phone?

Absolutely. Power App gives you full remote access: monitor usage, flip circuits, schedule automations, and manage your energy in real time no matter where you are.

Will Smart Panel work with my existing solar or battery setup?

In most cases, yes. While the panel is built to work seamlessly with Kora Powerblocks, it can also integrate with select third-party systems, including Tesla, Enphase, and SunRun.

Is Smart Panel compatible with an off-grid home?

Yes. The Smart Panel supports both grid-tied and off-grid setups and gives you full control over your energy, no matter where you live.

What is the expected lifespan of a Smart Panel?

The Kora Smart Panel is built to last over 30 years with solid-state components and regular over-the-air updates to keep it future-ready.

Powerblocks

What is included in Powerblocks?

Each Powerblocks is a stack of modular, outdoor-rated LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries (between 2 to 7) and a hybrid inverter. Each modular battery within a Powerblocks stores 4 kWh of usable energy. You can daisy chain up to four Powerblocks to configure a system with a 112 kWh capacity.

How efficient is the Powerblocks system, and what is it's expected lifespan?

The system is rated for 6,000+ full cycles, which translates to 15–20+ years of daily use—with strong performance long after that.

How safe are the batteries within Powerblocks?

We use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), a chemistry known for zero thermal runaway risk, stable operation, and no cobalt.

Does Powerblocks need active cooling or ventilation?

No. The battery stack uses natural convection cooling. It’s also equipped with cold-weather heating and operates safely between -13°F and 131°F.

How fast does Powerblocks charge?

Each stack supports 50A charging and 60A discharging. Charge times depend on your solar output and inverter capacity, but full recharge typically takes 2–5 hours.

Can I take Powerblocks off-grid?

Absolutely. With enough capacity and solar, the system can power a home fully off-grid with seamless switchover in under 20ms.

What is the warranty?

All Powerblocks come with a 12.5-year limited warranty, covering performance and reliability.

Does Powerblocks support grid export and time-of-use savings?

Yes. The hybrid inverter within Powerblocks supports bi-directional charging, sending power back to the grid and managing battery charge/discharge based on utility rates. Learn more about how we get you the best rates for your excess energy with Energy Trading.

Is Powerblocks EV charger friendly?

Yes. Powerblocks can work with Level 2 EV chargers and prioritize solar or off-peak charging to cut your charging costs.

How does Powerblocks handle power outages?

In conjunction with our Smart Panel, Powerblocks switches to backup mode in under 20ms, keeping your essentials powered with no manual intervention.

Power App

How does the Power App control energy in the house?

The Power App is your home’s energy command center. From one screen, you can see how much power each room and appliance is using, control them remotely, track your batteries and solar, and even decide which appliances matter most during an outage. It accomplishes this through its integration with the Kora Smart Panel, which replaces your old electrical panel.

Do I need solar panels or batteries for Power App to work?

No. Power App gives you insights and control even if your home is still grid-only. You only need the Kora Smart Panel. But when you add solar, batteries, or an EV, the app unlocks even more features — storing cheap power, dodging peak rates, and keeping you running during blackout.

How does Power App help me save money?

The app shifts energy use away from expensive peak hours, spots waste (like devices left on), and automatically pulls from the cheapest energy source available. You will be able to finally see where your energy is going and adapt according to your preferences.

What happens during a power outage?

The app puts you in control. You’ll get a notification when the grid goes down, and you can instantly prioritize which appliances stay powered — fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, or even your EV. Your battery backup kicks in automatically, with switchover fast enough to keep your home running smoothly.

How does Power App make the money?

Through Power App, you access Kora Energy Trading, the propriety platform for reselling energy to the grid. Your stored power can be sold back to the grid when prices spike — sometimes at rates 10x higher than what you normally pay. Founders Edition customers get lifetime access to this platform, free forever.

What devices is the app available on?

Power App is still in development. However, Power App will operate on both iOS and Android devices, giving you control whether you’re at home or halfway around the world.

Energy Trading

What is Energy Trading?

Energy Trading is how your home turns excess power into profit. Instead of letting your stored energy sit idle, Kora sells it back to the grid when prices spike — sometimes earning $3–$5 per kWh compared to the $0.12 retail rate. This is accomplished through Kora's virtual power plant (VPP), which aggregates power from all Kora homeowners to get you the best price.

Is there any cost to use Kora Energy Trading?

Founders Edition customers get lifetime access to the Kora Energy Trading platform — free forever.

What happens if there's a blackout?

During outages, your energy never leaves your home unless you say so. The system prioritizes your backup needs first, then trades only when you have surplus.

When will Energy Trading be available?

Energy Trading features are rolling out nationwide in 2026, with early access beginning for Founders Edition customers. Availability may vary by region depending on grid and utility programs.

How is Energy Trading different from net metering?

Net metering gives you credit for excess solar at retail rates. Energy Trading sells your stored battery power during peak demand at wholesale market prices. In other words, credits vs. real cash profits.

Do I need solar panels to participate?

No. Any home with a Kora system with Powerblocks and a Smart Panel can participate in Energy Trading. Solar just adds more supply to sell. Even if you’re grid-only, you can store cheap off-peak power and resell it when rates rise.

How does this actually work?

Your Kora system monitors grid demand through secure internet protocols. When prices climb, it automatically discharges your stored power back to the grid. You don’t have to track rates or make trades — the Energy Trading system does it all in seconds.

What is a VPP and how does that relate to Kora Energy Trading?

A virtual power plant (VPP) is a network of homes with batteries, solar, and EVs that work together like one giant power station. Kora acts a VPP for Energy Trading participants. By joining Kora Energy Trading, you gain access to premium energy rates usually reserved for big utilities — and help stabilize the grid at the same time.

Why would utilities want my energy?

During peak demand or emergencies, utilities need instant-response power. Instead of firing up expensive, polluting plants, they pay premium rates for stored home energy. By participating, you earn — and help keep the lights on for everyone.
