The Smart Panel can also be installed as a subpanel downstream of an existing main panel. You choose which circuits move into the Smart Panel to be supported by Kora.
In an outage, only the circuits connected through the Smart Panel get power from the Powerblocks. Circuits left on the main panel won't receive power from Kora or the home's solar. On a subpanel install, keep neutral and ground separated.
Key points
- Move the high-priority circuits, such as the refrigerator, lighting and internet equipment, into the Smart Panel
- Only Smart Panel circuits are backed up
- Keep neutral and ground separated on a subpanel
